Was Chris Moneymakerâs legendary bluff versus Sammy Farha the best hand in World Series of Poker history? Thatâs what weâll find out when it comes up against five others to find âthe most memorable WSOP TV handâ of all timeâŚ
The 50th Anniversary edition of the WSOP will feature a âFirst Fifty Honorsâ gala held at the end of June, with a number of awards being voted on and handed out, including the title of âWSOPâs favorite bad boyâ â sure to be a hard-fought affair!
Back to Moneymaker, though, and âthe bluff of the centuryâ as commentator Norman Chad termed it.
Moneymaker shoved his entire stack in the middle as the poker world watched on in awe â an all-in bluff heads-up that could have cost the hitherto unknown accountant his place in history.
The soon to be famous Tennessean, however, wasnât quite so worried â telling The Las Vegas Review Journal:
âI never really thought he was going to call. I just thought he had, at best, one pair, and I didnât think he would call with one pairâ.
Despite Farhaâs suspicion that his soon-to-be illustrious opponent had bricked the river - âYou must have missed your flush draw, huh?â was Farhaâs guess â he folded the best hand and would go on to lose out on the most-coveted gold bracelet of all.
The former accountant whose name became synonymous with the global rise of poker â both live and online given that he had satellited his way into the Main Event â wonât be a shoo-in for the new title.
With five other hands up for the honour â as well as a public vote which could boost that number of options for the online vote â it could be a close-run affair, but big Chris has a double shout at winning.
Have a look yourself and see which of the six would be the ultimate WSOP hand of poker!
