Itâs either an elaborate and extremely well-played troll, or the worldâs biggest poker site PokerStars have decided to share the wealth with their biggest losing players, a member of the 2+2 forum posting how he won $25,000 in a âlosing players only freerollâ!
âPoiulkjhâ started a thread entitled âBeing a losing player is VERY profitable on PokerStarsâ which says that he was âinvited to play a losing players only 9 players sit&go freerollâ and where he claims the prizes wereâŚ
7th-9th: $1050
4th-6th: $2100
3rd: $5200
2nd: $10300
1st: $25000
âŚthe original poster stating: âI finished 1st and won $25000 which is my biggest score ever â

So, an elaborate troll to get up the noses of all the PokerStars players who had their money taken when the Stars Group (formerly known as Amaya Inc.) changed their VIP status, costing their SuperNova and SuperNova Elite players hundreds of thousands of dollars?
Or a new weapon in the PokerStars armory to give back to those who give them the most money anyway knowing full well theyâll be getting it back â and more â in the months to come, the OP claiming to have lost âaround 30-40k in last 12 monthsâ and stating: âthis is where supernovas money is going very smart idea from PokerStarsâ.
Other posters on the thread have reacted in disbelief, âMonteroyâ writing:
Step 1: Lose $40,000
Step 2: Claim to win $25,000 in a made up tournament
Step 3: ????????
Step 4: Profit
âŚwhile âniminatorâ was offended by the very ideaâŚ
âWTF is this ****?!? If it is real then:
1st) **** you AmayaGambolCasinoStars
2nd) **** you all of you AmayaStars-signed Poker prosâ

Madlex was less angry about the thought of a âsecret loserâs clubâ, posting:
"Encouraging losing players to continue playing (and depositing) sounds like a very good idea to me. I am perfectly fine with everybody who loses 10k+/year getting 10-20% of that back through promotions. That money lands in other players accounts eventually anyway."
Amid posts about the OP âphotoshopping screenshots showing his apparent freeroll game and an authentic-looking message from Starsâ which read:
"Dear *******, You are invited to the *******, a new initiative reserved for our most loyal and valued players."
âPoiulkjhâ added:
"Itâs a secret club on homegames so I think itâs something to please the big spenders and not something to marketing", adding: "although it has a name and a logoâ before making the claim that âthere are ~400 players right now on the secret club, sngs free with 25k for first are running everytime but each player has just 1 ticket to use."
At the time of writing, Pendaflex89 wrote what the vast majority including myself are thinking: âNot sure if you are telling the truth because it's the Internet but very plausibleâ, although it surely wonât be long before someone adds âplausible because itâs Pokerstarsâ into that quote.
