Juan Pardo Wins Nearly $1 Million in One Month
5 years ago03 May
The month of April has come and gone, but it will always be remembered fondly by Juan Pardo who recorded cashes in three big events to win almost $1 million, including his first live poker championship.
Perhaps even more amazing is that Pardo had only two live cashes prior to April for a mere $2,812 in winnings combined. The Spaniard's Hendon Mob database profile now lists $984,821 in live earnings.
Pardo's fantastic April kicked off with a score of $183,853 for a fifth place finish in the €25K Super High Roller #2 at the Party Poker MILLIONS Grand Final Barcelona. He ran even deeper in the €25K Super High Roller #3 with a runner-up showing to Davidi Kitai, earning a payday of $551,558.
Coming ever so close to tasting his first live victory but coming up a tad short was undoubtedly a factor when Pardo entered the €10,300 EPT Monte Carlo 8-Max a couple weeks later. He topped a field of 49 who re-entered 22 times, winning the championship and $246,598 to close out a terrific month.
Admitting to being mostly an online player under the 'Malaka$tyle' moniker at PokerStars that included a 2016 SCOOP title for $92,761, Pardo called his recent success on the live poker stage a "breakthrough." The Spaniard added that an abundance of effort to improve his game is now paying off.
A little bit of luck certainly helped as well, like during the EPT in Monte Carlo during three-handed play when a short-stacked Pardo shoved all-in pre-flop holding pocket threes. Timothy Adams was roughly an 82% favorite with pocket kings, but a trey on the flop gave the pot to Pardo, propelling him to eventual victory and capping off a month of poker to remember.
