Live tournament poker is on its way to Tallinn next month as the MPN Poker Tour descends on the Estonian capital for the next stop in its 4th season, with qualifiers from over 20 countries planning to fight it out for the €150,000 guaranteed prizepool in the €550 Main Event.

Tallinn has become a go to venue for the poker community, the medieval town on the Baltic coast providing not only a beautiful place to spend a week or two, but also a host of casinos and cardrooms dotted around the old town and beyond.

For MPN, it’s a continuation of their hugely popular live Poker Tour, something which almost every network or online pokerroom is looking to invest in, the mix of qualifiers and regular casino players proving an excellent way to promote the game and, of course, expand their business.

MPN, Microgaming Poker Network for those who aren’t so familiar with them, run 27 different poker sites with a shared player pool and tournament schedule – so unlike the really massive sites such as PokerStars, 888 or PartyPoker, MPN take a more varied approach to the online game, offering ‘small boutique operators who specialize in a particular region’, as well as ‘huge publicly-traded companies with global reach. We even have a poker room that gives all its profits to charity,’ they say.

Whatever the differences, the fact remains that live poker tours are excellent value for poker players, and the Tallinn event at the Olympic Park Casino, Tallinn from 19 – 22 October plans to build on the success of the Vienna, Malta and Manchester stops from earlier this year.

Back in July, Tim Chung scooped €29,900 when he overcame a field of 288 hopefuls to take down the Main Event, while the MPN Malta Main Event in April saw 20-year old Italian online MTT specialist Alessandro Siena walk off with €35,000 when he topped a field of 388 players. You can watch the final table action from MPNPT Malta below to get an idea of how the big live event is run and how Siena lifted his title.

In Tallinn, as well as the €550 Main Event (with its €150,000 Guaranteed prizefund) there will also be a €110 MPNPT Casino Side Event and for those who fancy ‘satelliting’ their way to Estonia, GUTS poker are offering a chance to qualify for as little as €1, as usual the qualifiers scooping a package which will make MPNPT Tallinn even more special.
