Phil Hellmuth’s Crazy Week Includes Tiger Woods Announcement
14 Mar

The ‘Poker Brat’ persona that has helped make Phil Hellmuth one of the most famous poker players in the history of the game was well and truly locked away this week – book signings, posing with fans and announcing his MC duties at Tiger Woods’ upcoming charity event all showing that when cold decks and bad beats are missing, big Phil is a lovely guy!

The launch of his book ‘Positivity’ this year seems to have had a great effect on the 14-time WSOP bracelet winner, but resting on his laurels is not part of a true champion’s makeup, and Phil set himself off on a non-stop whirlwind tour this week…

It wasn’t just Hellmuth whose face was recognised by the fans and players along the way though, NFL legends Joe Montana and Santana Moss showing up for the first of the charity events, with Mike ‘The Mouth’ Matusow and Brandon Cantu apparently there as well to add a little challenge on the felt…

Phil even managed to strike his familiar pose at the tables inbetween the autographs and compering, although we guess we’d have still heard about it if the pocket rockets had done too much damage to him in this tweet from a fan…

And while Phil’s non-stop week goes on, news that he will emcee the TGR Foundation – one of golfer Tiger Woods charities – came out, the MGM Grand in Las Vegas hosting Tiger’s Poker Night, with the great man himself (Tiger Woods that is – for once big Phil might not be getting the most attention!) expected to take on an A-list celebrity crowd.

With Helmuth and Woods both ‘stuck’ on 14 ‘Majors’, the pair have a lot in common – and raising money for charity is high on that list, the TGR Foundation set to benefit by a huge amount, allowing it to continue its work ‘providing underserved children with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in school and beyond’.

The WPT-sponsored Tiger’s Poker Night event is open to all, but you need to buy a ‘Poker Experience’ package to get your seat alongside Tiger and co – entitling you to not only a game of cards with the biggest celebrities, but also a VIP-style experience outlined below:

  • Tiger’s Poker Night tournament entry
  • Invite one guest to the poker tournament
  • Two invitations to the post-tournament auction and reception
  • Two invitations to a private Tiger Jam concert
  • Two invitations to a private Tiger Jam post-VIP party
  • Gift packages for each guest

So, next time you berate Phil for berating opponents at the table, or slam Tiger for storming off the course, just remember that there are two sides to every great player and every great person!
