Sunday Million Winner and More - Online MTT's Recap
15 Jan

Sundays are always busy for online MTT players around the world - here’s a quick summary of the biggest winners.

The biggest event of the day, the $1 million GTD Sunday Million ended with British recreational player panda713 on top of the field. He entered the $215 tournament with only $15K in PokerStars cashes prior, small in comparison to his final table rivals - for example, Russian pro @rtemur has won almost a hundred times as much, $1.4 million on Stars.

Panda713 also arrived at the final table short-stacked, so the odds did not seem to be in his favor. He managed to pull through, however - he slowly chipped up while other players perished.

One of the biggest hands panda713 was involved in was when he  called nic81411’s 33 BB pre-flop all-in shove with AK suited, his opponent showed pocket 4’s - the board fell T28 8 T. Even though panda didn’t make his flush, the two pair on the board meant that his Ace kicker elevated into being the best hand, and consequently nic81411 was knocked out. Only four remained in the game - panda713, Ewokwat, @rtemur and Ferran78999 - and they quickly agreed on a four-way payout deal.

But the action didn’t stop with the negotiations, the players left $20K from the prize pool to play for. That $20K ended up going to panda713, who defeated the Russian Ferran789999 for the title.

But there was still money left to be won PokerStars on Sunday.

The $100K guaranteed Sunday High Roller was won by Chinese xiaoyyy who earned $46,722 for his victory. Claas “ssicK_OnE” Segebrecht came in second for $35,180 while mikki696 from Austria finished third.

Segebrecht is a well established online pro who even got a nice shoutout from Patrick Leonard a few years back after pulling off the impressive feat of winning two SCOOP events in 3 days.

There was some serious high roller action on PartyPoker as well. On Sunday, the last weekend before the POWERFEST VII, two $150K GTD high rollers were held. Both started at 7 pm, one with $530, the other with $2,600 buy-ins. Evidently, the former drew more entries, the 289-player field was eventually topped by Ukrainian SanityWaterline who’s better known as RomeOpro on PokerStars - he won $28,570. The $2.6K event - 60 entries total - was won by MisterN411 - ultimately it paid out taking the bigger risk and playing the higher buy-in high roller for him, since he got $53,496 for his victory.
