If they ever made a Batman movie about poker you wouldn’t be surprised if The Dark Knight lost to the Joker three times before finding a way to overcome the odds when it really mattered, and that’s what Global Poker hero Mike ‘DarkKnight17’ Coombs did when he finally lifted a title at the 4th time of asking, scooping event 12 of the Rattlesnake Open and picking up SC$3,560!

“It was great to get the win,” Coombs after his epic heads-up battle. “This is the fourth time I’ve been heads-up for a Series Event. I was 0-3 coming into this so it was awesome to finally close one out.”

The Tacoma, Washington poker player is no stranger to the Global Poker community, active in the forum and giving very objective analysis of the USA’s fastest-growing online poker site – and as a player with years of experience and over $175,000 in live earnings as well, he knows what he’s talking about.

His blog post at the aptly-named Batcavepoker.com begins ‘Yes, this is an endorsement. Global Poker is Dark Knight approved’, the latest GP champion adding:

"I’m writing this because I truly care about the growth of poker – not just in our local card rooms, but worldwide."

Back in the Rattlesnake Open, where 21 days of non-stop action sees 135 Championship Events and more than $1,250,000 in guaranteed cash prizes on offer, Coombs described his heads-up battle for the title.

“I got it all in with AT vs A2 for the win and he spiked a deuce to take the chip lead,” Coombs explained. “I was pretty determined to not let this one slip away though and I was able to grind my way back in front and finally close it out!”

The win gives The Dark Knight a big boost in the Global Poker Championships Leaderboard race, the winner of which scores the right to represent Global Poker in a live tournament - with the buy-in, accommodation and travel covered up to $5,000!

PokerTube have covered the previous two winners as they parlayed their leaderboard victories into big live cashes and it would be a brave person indeed who bet against three in a row when the Rattlesnake Champion is crowned.

In the meantime, the Dark Knight will be back at the Global Poker tables as the battle continues, and if you want to try your hand at being his nemesis there is plenty of action still to come in the Rattlesnake series, so head over to GlobalPoker.com today and get involved.
