Online site Global Poker’s decision to send their winners to big Live events has paid off in spades, with the $1.5 million guaranteed Grizzly Games winner Sandra ‘MommyGingery’ Lefler cashing twice at the recent Wynn Classic, on home soil in Las Vegas.

After topping the leaderboard at the recently-completed Grizzly Games, the follow-up to last year’s equally successful Eagle Cup, Lefler had stated:

“I love playing on Global Poker!” adding that: “I live in Las Vegas and we actually have a large group of Global Poker players that live here and all play together in the live casinos. It is great to be able to represent Global Poker here in my home town.”

Sandra’s trip to the nearby Wynn Resort and Casino for the annual Wynn Classic saw her take part on 3 events under the Global Poker banner, $5,000 in tournament buy-ins resulting in $7,303 in prize money, a pretty decent return on investment for the ‘casual poker playing mother from Las Vegas’!

Starting out in her $360+$40 buy-in first event, Sandra converted her online form into a live cash, finished in 13th spot just short of the final table – with a $1,085 payday to her impressive recent online wins.

Global Poker has been hitting the headlines regularly recently as the fastest growing poker site for US poker players, the cardroomproudly supporting and promoting mostly recreational players, and to reach the Wynn Classic, Sandra landed two wins and several other deep runs in the month-long, 200 event, $1.5million guaranteed Grizzly Games series – securing her spot despite missing out on a couple of events.

“I actually wanted to play all of them,” she said, as she had done with last year’s Global Poker Eagle Cup, but explained: “We went on a holiday to the Grand Canyon. We had really bad internet down there so I ended up missing two of them!”

Despite being a cash game player when she does play live, the tournament scene seemed to hold no fear for the Vegas mom, following up her live cash with a very respectable 47th place in the $1,000,000 Guarantee Championship Main Event!

With 984 runners to contend with, Sandra made it deep into Day 2 and picked up another $6,218 for her efforts – her $7,303 total just outgunning last year’s Global Poker Eagle Cup victor Nathan ‘Penta’ Blair!

Blair wore the Global Poker colors in the WSOP Cherokee Circuit Event last December in North Carolina, finishing 34th in that event and walking off with $5,627.

The online battles continue apace on the site, the Global Poker Madness promotion ongoing and the Sunday Scrimmage in full swing as we speak and the word from Global Poker themselves is that the next big chance to turn your online skills into a big live opportunity is “just around the corner”, so watch this space!
