High-stakes grinder Sam Trickett has launched a video series on YouTube detailing his rise through the poker ranks. The 32-year-old Brit is a popular figure in the poker world and is answering the call for some content on how he got to where he is today.

Trickett starts part one of the series by speaking about how passionate he is for the game of poker, but that wasn’t always the case. His first life ambition was to play for Manchester United, but after several knee operations that dream died and his love for poker was born through the need to focus his life on something.

After kicking off his poker career in pub games, online play followed soon after. However, it was when the Dusk Till Dawn card room opened in Nottingham, UK, that Trickett's career really began when he was playing tournaments with as little buy in as £20. Up the ladder he climbed until that fateful day in 2012 when he finished second in the $1,000,000 buy in Big One for One Drop for more than $10,000,000 in prize money. Now he had finally arrived on the big stage.

After this run of success he couldn't resist going out and buying a $230,000 Ferrari 458 but then he managed to famously write it off soon afterwards.

Then PartyPoker came calling, deciding they wanted to enlist his services as a brand ambassador, which gave him the motivation to take his career to the next level.

This is a video series with great potential. We want to hear more stories such as what happened with the Ferrari. High stakes players all tend to have tons of degen stories, and Trickett must have plenty that we don’t know about yet.

Part two started with the admission that as he’s a old school player,on the scene for 12 years, he has many life leaks, such as drinking with poker buddies when he should be playing. He also reminded everybody about Trickett’s Room on PartyPoker where many well-known stars can be seen.

Both parts were only four minutes long, which is a shame as they really should be longer than that for this format. Hopefully in the future we’ll get some high-level analysis from hands played in places such as the far east where Chinese businessmen are throwing their cash about. Those will take us deeper into the world of Sam Trickett.
