The role of luck in poker seems to be the talking point of the week, and Olivier Busquet stumped a lot of fans and followers – including the biggest names in the game - with this difficult question on Twitter…

Quite a few names spring to mind, but a few months’ worth of downswing for Daniel Negreanu, or Steffen Sontheimer’s horrendous summer, for example, obviously don’t count given that they are up $millions lifetime, so who does that leave?

Patrick ‘plenopads’ Leonard gave the theoretically correct answer…

…but Busquet, with over $8million to his name in live tournament earnings and well out of the running for his own ‘award’, wasn’t being put off so easily – he wanted names!

With Ryan ‘protential’ Laplante’s online poll finding that 24% of players believe they are unlucky, there should be plenty of names forthcoming, and eventually they appeared, though not all were serious…

…and in real life it would be hard to top the Casino Royale debacle of Mads Mikkelsen’s character Le Chiffre…

…while Allen ‘Chainsaw’ Kessler was adamant the ‘rules of the game’ should be loosened to allow for naming yourself…

The old-school were to the fore among the Twitter comments, although again a big-name winning live pro can’t really be named as having ‘run the worst’ of all-time…

…and maybe we’ll just have to wait until Olivier names his own ‘top trump’ in the unlucky stakes…
