Max Silver

Max started his live career playing in the UK & Ireland Poker Tour events where he had moderate amounts of success.

The young UK pro currently residing in Dublin, Ireland, Max Silver was born on June 7, 1990. He learned the rules of Texas Hold’em when he was 15, with the help of his grandfather, and started playing in the small home games with friends. When he eventually turned eighteen, he started dabbling with online poker, and after making several deposits before finally catching his lucky streak, he never looked back. He started his live career playing in the UK & Ireland Poker Tour events where he had moderate amounts of success. His breakthrough came in 2010 when he went on to win the UKIPT Main Event in Dublin banking slightly over $91,000 for his efforts after beating the field of nearly 600 runners. Now he had the roll big enough to support some of the bigger events in Europe. Apart from having enough money, Max Silver had some important contacts in the poker community who made his transition to these tougher fields easier. One of them was Jason Somerville, who coached him for a period of time, and he also knew Steve O’Dwyer and Vivek Rajkumar, all through a small forum they were all part of. With the newly found bankroll and reinforced knowledge, he felt ready to tackle the “big boys” tournaments. A month after his UKIPT win, he went to London to play in the EPT, and won an event there, taking home nearly $131k. Then came 2011 and the WSOP Europe in Cannes. He bought into the 10k main event and got to the final table, but finished in 8th place, good for $153,000. In 2013 he finished 6th in the EPT / EUREKA Prague Main Event, raking in another $220,000, and about a month later, in early 2014, he came 9th in PCA Main Event for another $130,000. With some other good results in the mix, his cashes to date stand at almost $1.3 million. Silver emphasizes the importance of learning in order to progress in your poker career. He also believes that the bankroll management is very important, and tries to never put more than 3% of his bankroll in any single event that he plays. Although 2013 hasn’t been too good on him, he was never in danger of going broke thanks to this approach, although it was really tough to be losing money at times. Eventually he got the scores he needed to profit as the year was coming to an end. If he didn’t play poker he would like to have his own restaurant or even go to university, as he is still very young and feels he could do anything he wants. He also got engaged during the 2013 and expects to get married sometime during this year (2014) in Dublin.
