PartyPoker have signed Finnish pro Joni Jouhkimainen to join their team as a sponsored pro in both the live and online spheres, the 26-year old expected to raise their profile in the Nordic countries as he becomes the 19th member of the siteā€™s growing ambassadorial set-up.

Jouhkimainen is one of the best of the new generation of Nordic players to appear on the scene, amassing $2,466,074 since his first live cash of $31,783 with a sixth place finish at IPT San Remo shortly after his 18th birthday.

He said of his appointment:

ā€œIā€™m really happy to be joining team PartyPoker. All the efforts that PartyPoker has been making recently to put players first have made me ā€“ and many others ā€“ really happy.ā€

PartyPoker has made great strides over the past couple of years, introducing their Live circuit and signing up some of the most-respected players and workers in the poker world, with Mike Sexton taking on the role of Chairman last May and promising:

ā€œThere are definitely exciting times aheadā€.

Jouhkimainen joins the likes of Sam Trickett, Patrick Leonard, Marcel Luske and Natalia Breviglieri on the pro roster, with former world champion boxer Carl Froch and tennis legend Boris Becker as two of the best known poker-loving non-pros in the team.

The Finn explained his ā€œeasy decisionā€ to join PartyPoker, stating:

ā€œPartyPokerā€™s initiatives, both live and online, are really good for the whole poker community. The PartyPoker LIVE schedule for this year also seems really exciting, so I am very much looking forward to seeing what 2018 brings. I cannot wait to play live events with PartyPoker.ā€

He added:

ā€œIt was nice to start off my relationship with PartyPoker with a great result at the Nordic Poker Championships in Prague, especially as Prague is one of my favourite poker stops every year.ā€

His 4th spot in Rozvadov saw him pick up $82,356 and topped off a great year which included a trio of victories in his homeland over the summer worth $130,000 in a mix of PLO and No Limit tournaments in Helsinki.

Head of Nordics for PartyPoker, Thomas Uddness, said of the announcement:

ā€œJoni has had a great career to date with some fantastic results on the live poker circuit. He is one of the very best players in Finland so itā€™s an honour that he is joining PartyPoker and we are thrilled to have him on board.ā€

His first live event as a PartyPoker pro is likely to be the PartyPoker Live MILLIONS at Jouhkimainenā€™s favourite Kings Casino early in February, the site recently announcing massive guarantees and a ā‚¬50,000 Super High Roller which will almost certainly ensure a full houseā€¦
