The Kings Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic has been hosting the WSOP Circuit festival for the past 3 weeks and Germany’s Hossein Ensan yesterday emerged as the Main Event champion, €184,812 ($219,036) richer after defeating a field which included Phil Hellmuth, Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier and Brandon Cantu as well as a host of European challengers.

The 53-year old Iranian–born pro is best–known for his fantastic EPT scores, taking down the season 12 Prague Main Event for €754,510 ($825,151) and a 3rd spot the previous year in the Barcelona Main Event worth €652,667 ($860,091) and his victory in Rozvadov takes his career tournament earnings to an impressive $2,339,119.

“I am happy to be here. That was four days with great players and it was tough. But now I am just very happy,” Ensan said after fending off the challenge of fellow German Jan Timo Jobmann heads-up, with a third countryman Rifat Gegic filling out the podium.

The German dominance wasn’t entirely unexpected, the host Kings Casino being a mere stones-throw from the border and a very popular destination for German players – owner Leon Tsoukernik bringing many of Europe’s national poker tour finals to his recently-expanded ‘poker island’.

With the WSOP Europe due to be held in Kings as well – kicking off tomorrow actually – some of the biggest names in poker will be in attendance, Phil Hellmuth playing the Circuit Main Event as a warm-up and cashing in 56th spot as well as enjoying his time in nearby Prague…

The 672 entrants vying for the €1million guaranteed prize-pool had been whittled down to a final table of eight which included local hopeful Pavel Stolar, and it was Ensan who disposed of six of his seven opponents, the first two finding themselves dominated in Ax hands.

Stolar hit the rails courtesy of Jobmann and soon it was the German trio fighting out for the title, Gegic falling in third when his turn bluff was called by Ensan. Two hands into the heads-up and Kings had a winner for its final Circuit ring.

As PokerNews described it: ‘Jan Timo Jobmann got it in with queen-three suited for a flush draw on a ten-high flop. Ensan had seven-eight of diamonds for the same flush draw, spiked a straight draw on the turn and rivered an off suit eight to emerge victorious.’

Ensan was congratulated by his rail and the players will now be looking forward to the WSOP Europe which promises to be a massive event, highlights of which we will bring you on PokerTube.
