The OG of poker streaming on Twitch.tv, Jason Somerville, will once again use that platform to showcase the 2018 Aussie Millions, marking three years in a row that the PokerStars Team Pro will provide live stream coverage of the action down under.

That announcement was trumpeted on social media just days ago on the Twitter page of the Aussie Millions Poker Championship, which is held at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia .

In Somerville's first year of live streaming the Aussie Millions in 2016, he set records for the number of viewers who tuned in. He followed up that debut this year with big numbers of spectators once again, leading to a continued partnership for next year that may go on indefinitely.

Poker Pros Versus Gamers For Charity

Via his Run It Up Twitch channel, Somerville has tallied over 19 million views. He remains one of the platforms most popular poker streamers, with Dutchman Lex Veldhuis also attracting a deluge of followers as of late.

Last month, the two poker streamers took on a handful of professional gamers in a $100K match for charity - the first ever Twitch charity poker event. Hearthstone pro Rumay “itsHafu” Wang won the event that saw more than 23,000 viewers catch the action.

Twitch is immensely popular among the gaming crowd. Streaming poker on the same platform has undoubtedly attracted gamers to poker - and vice versa. The crossover appeal seems a natural fit and the relationship between poker and gaming continues to intersect thanks to the availability of Twitch.tv.

The 2018 Aussie Millions kicks off on January 17. Somerville is set to provide an array of analysis and live action throughout the course of the festival that will run through February 5 and features the headlining AU$10,600 Main Event on Jan. 28.
