Madalain Wins PokerStars SCOOP Main Event $100 Low For $221,515.37

“One billion, one hundred and sixty-five million, eight-hundred thousand!”

Not dollars, but the number of chips SCOOP Main Event Low winner ‘Madalain’ from Austria finished the event with, scooping a healthy $221,515.37 from his $109 entry, overcoming 23,315 other players in the final event of the spring series on PokerStars.

A whopping $2,331,600 prizepool was on offer for the supposedly ‘Low’ version of the series finale biggie, England’s Charlie ‘Epiphany77’ Carrel having already taken down the $10k ‘High’ version for over $1.2million, with the $1k ‘Mid’ going to ‘ROFLshove’ for $767k plus change.

Naturally missing the big names from the final table, it was still a ‘battle royale’ as 2 Ukrainians, 2 Dutch and 2 Brazilians faced off with the Austrian and hopefuls from Finland and Mexico hoping to land a massive payout at the end of 2 days of tough fighting.

It was ‘ale kmkz’ whom the poker gods seemed likely to favor, coming in as 2nd chip leader and then amazingly – and rather ridiculously – being dealt pocket kings in short order, including two hands in a row!

Taking out short-stacked Val1k first-time round, he then faced an open shove by ‘solodimir24’ whose nines were no match for the kings – and on the very next hand it was ‘EluSiveMark’’s turn to hit the rails, the kings of ‘ale kmrz’ holding up for the 3rd time.

Down to five players, it was Madalain who put paid to any deals, consistently refusing to discuss anything with anybody according to PokerStars Dan Jones, whose own tournament had finished well short of the money, although 3600 others did cash!.

"Deal?"asked MelloBH, rather sheepishly in the chat. "NO DEAL" was the immediate response from Madalain, says Dan – and that was that. Play on!

Inevitably it was ‘Madalain’ and ‘ale kmrz’ who faced off in the heads-up battle, the Brazilian surviving a ‘pocket aces’ hit to “claw his way back up to being evenly stacked”.

The luck of the kings had perhaps been too much for one final table, and it was Austrian ‘madalain’ who emerged triumphant, his fishhooks catching his worthy opponent with a top pair, top kicker shove, the board bricking and that was that – an epic ‘Low’ battle for the ages!
