The recent spate of natural calamities that have ravaged regions in and around the U.S. have  led to a number of relief efforts to assist those affected, including the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida teaming up with PokerStars to hold a charity poker tournament for South Florida residents hit hard by Hurricane Irma.

Set for Tuesday, October 3 at the Hard Rock, the benefit begins at 6:00 p.m. with an exclusive player party, followed at 7:00 p.m. by the charitable poker tournament that promises more than $50,000 in cash and prizes. A $300 buy-in will give players an opportunity to win a $20,000 PokerStars Championship Package, $15,000 in Seminole Hard Rock Poker Tournament Entries, a Hard Rock Punta Cana Getaway, and additional prizes that include autographed Hard Rock memorabilia.

“It’s upsetting to see the damage that so many families have endured during this storm season," said Hard Rock VP Susan Renneisen. "We encourage everyone in the community to help however they can."

Feeding South Florida

Players who bust out can re-enter for up to two hours and can also rub elbows with some PokerStars Team Pros who have committed to participating such as Jason Mercier, Jeff Gross, and Jennifer Shahade. The relief effort is known as Feeding South Florida, an area that suffered billions of dollars in damage after Irma spun through.

Also devastated by hurricanes as of late were Texas and Puerto Rico, who felt the wrath of Harvey and Maria. Included in the disasters was a recent earthquake in Mexico, resulting in even more lost lives and damage.

“We all witnessed the impact and destruction which swept across the Caribbean and Southern Florida and we hope our support of this event will help with the recovery process for those who have been affected," stated Sue Hammett, the Head of Corporate Giving at The Stars Group.

Players need not pre-register. Just show up at the Seminole Hard Rock and buy-in. Those who can't make it to the event but would still like to help can go to the websites of either The Stars Group or the casino.
