Stand-up comedian Doug Stanhope has been banned from all Caesars Entertainment properties, the former Girls Gone Wild host claiming that two scathing reviews he left of the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino were behind him being â86âedâŚ
The Rio, which has just played host to the 50th running of the World Series of Poker, was condemned by Stanhope on both TripAdvisor and Yelp, the comic giving the place one-star reviews in February of this year, stating:
âBecause who reads a two-star review? Itâs just businessâ.
Stanhope began his Yelp review with the lines:
âThe rumor is that this hotel is about to be torn down. Staying here will make an ardent atheist pray that this is trueâ.
Claiming that: âThe Rio is like being in 1986â, the 52-year old Massachusetts-born comic went on to bemoan everything from âmissing restaurantsâ to âextortionate ATM feesâ to a âdrunken managerâ who fell asleep outside his room.
The letter from Caesars Entertainment banning Stanhope listed Harrahâs, Ballyâs (Vegas) and the Planet Hollywood Resort Casino among those he will not be allowed to enter.
There are those, however, who believe the horrible reviews werenât the real reason behind the comedianâs banâŚ
A number of poker players have found themselves in the same shoes as Stanhope over the years, PokerTube covering Robert Anthony âTonyâ Layâs lawsuit against Caesars back in 2017.
Just last year, Joe Stiers was in the headlines after being unceremoniously dumped out of the Main Event on day 3, after officials realised he had been served an â86 noticeâ for previous problematic behaviour.
Stiers had used a variation on his name to gain entry, and has since come to an undisclosed settlement with Caesars regarding the 2018 WSOP incident.
Caesars Entertainment have yet to comment on Stanhopeâs recent claims.
