It’s been a busy and successful few weeks for Global Poker players, the Vegas summer poker frenzy offering them the chance to shine in live events, including the ongoing biggie – the World Series of Poker - as well as online events courtesy of the biggest US-facing site’s Facebook page….
First up has to be the successful WSOP outing for Kevin ‘BUYMEDINNER’ Pahl, the leaderboard winner at the recent Global Poker Rattlesnake Open where he cashed 15 times on his way to the Champions Trophy and Global Poker Champions Pack.
Kevin decided to take on the $1,000 No Limit Hold’em Tag Team event at the WSOP as his live Global Poker sponsored outing, where along with his friends he took 45th place out of a massive 1,032 teams, picking up $3,495 for their efforts and continuing the Global Poker tradition of cashing in live events.
Next up in the money-winners circle was Sara ‘Sabjo182’ Palmer, the Global Poker reg playing her first-ever WSOP tournament, the $1,000 Ladies Championship Event and finding herself up against the strongest female players in the world.
Undeterred by the experienced opposition, the St. Paul, Minnesota lass ran really deep, eventually missing out on the final table by a single spot, but scooping $6,799 for her 11th place finish in a field of 696.
It wasn’t only the Rio which had Global Poker’s finest gracing their tables this month, though, with Louis ‘beijinghouse’ Helm putting in a stint at the Golden Nugget’s ‘Grand Poker Series’ and walking off with a very decent haul of $1875 from one of their nightly $110 buy-in events.
Last, but certainly not least, the virtual felt has been just as hot as the live tables in Vegas, as Marty ‘Thakid5’ Martin found out when he turned a Global Poker Facebook page competition into a free SC$218 buy-in.
Marty almost took down the $50k guaranteed Sunday Scrimmage, but although he eventually had to settle for second place, the SC$7,750 was certainly a very good consolation prize!
The Global Poker FB page will be running more excellent competitions, as well as updating players on all the latest site news – such as being able to use American Express and Discover Card for Gold Coin purchases now, along with Mastercard and Visa.
Looking for a way to re-introduce the game to the US market, Global Poker came up with a cunning plan, and…
…here’s how it works
You can play with two currencies, Gold Coins and $weeps Cash.
- When you buy Gold Coins they give you bonus $weeps Cash free of charge.
- Gold Coins let you play for fun, but switch to $weeps Cash and you can play for real money.
