When English pro William Kassouf returned from self-imposed ‘exile’ following the recent chip-palming scandal that saw him lose his sponsorship, the man he probably least expected to see seated next to him was his arch-enemy Shaun Deeb – but ‘fate’, the poker gods, or whatever had other ideas…

It has been exactly 40 days and nights since Kassouf offered his apology for whatever happened in Leeds during the GUKPT last month, those in the know stating that he pocketed chips belonging to a friend at the roulette table…

Those who followed the sad debacle of the mouthy Londoner will recall that Shaun Deeb was the main man behind the initial rumours going viral, the Grosvenor Casino group dropping its sponsorship of Kassouf in the aftermath.

His month and a bit in the wilderness, broken only by a single tweet stating he was ‘off to Vegas’…

… ended today when he tweeted his photo of a sullen Deeb next to him at the Kings Casino in Rozvadov –the WSOPE Main Event bringing the pair together, by accident or perhaps design – and Kassouf apparently delighting in the coincidence.

The pair had squabbled previously when Deeb vented at the English pro during a podcast, claiming Kassouf had tried to chat up his wife, Kassouf refuting the charge and saying he thought they were brother and sister, the resemblance somewhat confusing to many.

Apart from being embroiled in several silly Twitter spats, Deeb has been having an incredible year, the New York man in the Czech Republic hoping to seal the WSOP Player of the Year award following his fantastic summer in Vegas.

Kassouf shot to prominence in 2016 when he was involved in several spats during the WSOP Main Event, his eventual departure involving one of the most-talked about incidents of the year in poker.
